The goal of Global Fest is to bring together and celebrate people of different cultural backgrounds who work and live in Central Illinois. It is a culturally immersive experience that celebrates the ethnic diversity and inclusion in our region. Global Fest may not be the first multicultural event in Peoria, but it promises to be the largest event of its kind, inviting community members to experience global music, dance, displays, costumes, languages, and international foods found in Peoria.
The public will learn more about the cultural groups who study, work, and live in Central Illinois, appreciate the diversity of our region, while having fun and learning about other cultures. We hope that bringing cultural groups together under one roof for a day will help the public appreciate their uniqueness, similarities, and shared past. Global Fest has the potential to become a regular event and a tourist attraction in the future, helping Peoria’s tourism industry and other local businesses. This is a chance to make people feel good about their region and get them connected.
